The traditional Panamerican Queen of Sugarcane contest came back to life in the city of Cali, Colombia, and Miss Bolivia, Yohana Paola Vaca Guzmán, was chosen as winner. Yohana won the title Miss World Bolivia 2011 and participated in Miss World last year, in London.
The 1st runner-up was Margarita María Peralta Tovar, Miss Colombia, and the 2nd runner-up was Elba Mercedes Fahsbender, Miss Peru. The representatives of Honduras and Mexico rounded out the top 5. 14 candidates competed for the title.
Two Misses Universe – Luz Marina Zuluaga of Colombia (1958) and Martha Vascocellos of Brazil (1968) – were among the judes, along with Julieta Urrutia Chang of Guatemala, Miss International 1984, Vanesa Mendoza, Miss Universe Colombia 2002, and Francisco Escobar, Mister World 2012, from Colombia.
The pageant came back with great reviews and decent press coverage. Apparently the sweetest beauty contest on the globe, will be back in 2013.
